You wouldn't sell your first cup of coffee for the day without timing the extraction, adjusting the grind and tasting to ensure the perfect shot. This is what many cafes aren't doing with their financials. Budgets and accurate P&Ls, will allow you to refine your financials, ensuring each decision is as measured and deliberate as the art of brewing the perfect cup of coffee.

Understanding numbers is a breeze for some café owners. Yet, for others, numbers can feel overwhelming, intimidating, and bewildering. You're not alone. This workshop is for you. We can help and guide you to build a budget to help your business perform better than before.

In this workshop we will provide you with the tools to prepare a budget, P&Ls and conduct financial reviews for your café to improve the profit and cashflows.

We will cover the following topics:

  • Understand the importance of budgets, P&Ls and the common mistakes that café owners make.
  • The difference between profit and cashflow
  • How to prepare a budget – don't worry, we will give you a budget template and help you learn how to use it.
  • Learn how to prepare weekly P&Ls and analyse it.
  • Understand café benchmarks – what should your COGS, labour and property costs be?
  • What you can do when the numbers aren't where they are meant to be.

Presented by the Coffee Commune's CFO, Simon Bowe (Certified Practising Accountant) and our Accountant, Luke Boyle (Chartered Accountant), this session will give you practical hands on tools and strategies that you can take back and use in your business immediately.
